Bataan-Corregidor Commemoration Booklet
This Commemoration Booklet was written by Bro. John Chan for his presentation on 8 April 2017, at Sequin-Level Lodge of the Battles of Bataan and Corregidor and the Bataan Death March on its 75th Anniversary.  This was the largest defeat for the United States with tremendous loss of lives and suffering of American and Filipino soldiers at the hands of the invading Japanese Forces.  Without any reinforcements or replenishment of food and ammunition from the United States, our starving and diseased U.S. Forces were ordered to surrender when they ran out of ammunition to fight.

These events are not in the history books taught at school.  Bro. John Chan, in his effort to keep alive the memory of those that gave their lives and the sacrifices of the survivors, gave a three hour educational program and published this booklet.

Presentation of Powered Wheelchair to Brother A. Scott Dean at Masonicare

On July 15, 2017, the officers and members of Sequin-Level Lodge joined various representatives from several veterans organizations, including the Disabled American Veterans (DAV), the American Veterans (AmVets), and the American Legion, along with representatives from the Grand Lodge of Connecticut, Masonicare, and MobilityWorks, to present Brother A. Scott Dean, Secretary Emeritus of Sequin-Level Lodge, with a customized powered wheelchair to assist him in navigating around the Masonicare facilities.  Brother John Chan, Junior Steward of Sequin-Level Lodge and a Lifetime Member of the DAV, used his contacts at the DAV to locate and acquire an over-sized powered wheelchair that had been donated to AmVets that was not in working condition.  Brother John then cleaned, repaired, refurbished and customized the wheelchair to meet Brother Scott’s needs.  Brother John contacted Midstate Batteries, in Bloomfield, and Mobility Works, in East Hartford, and formed long term partnerships with them to purchase batteries and parts at special pricing for this and other wheelchair refurbishments.  The Brethren of Sequin-Level Lodge donated the costs of the new batteries for the wheelchair.

All equipment can be had for free, but donations for the new parts and batteries will be gratefully accepted. If the donor specifies that they want the equipment to go to a Veteran, then that request is honored and the recipient must also be a Vet.  If you need any of the equipment on a permanent or temporary basis or have equipment to donate, email Bro.
